Direktur George Town Festival mengatakan dirinya "diarahkan" untuk menurunkan potret oleh Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri untuk Urusan Agama, Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

Mujahid mengatakan penyebaran kebudayaan LGBT tidak didukung di Malaysia.
